Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark - Christmas Reply (2014)

Today in the Mail I got a response from Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark for my Christmas letter I sent them back in December. This was the very first time I've written to the Denmark Royals.

The reply was mailed on 20th January and sent Economy. It took 45 days to arrive. The British Royal Family (~6 Days in mail) and Monaco (~11 Days) usually send their mail priority.

Inside is a pre-made response. Interestingly though it is not bilingual like Monaco's Christmas Card. But the part in blue is in Danish.

The message reads: 

On behalf of Their Royal Highnesses, The Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Denmark, I would like to thank you for your Season's Greetings.

The Queen & Prince Philip - Christmas Reply (2015)

Letters from the Queen are always extra special when they are sent from Sandringham!

I had written to The Queen and Prince Philip for Christmas, and as you may know, they spend their holiday break at Sandringham. The envelope is exactly the same as the ones from Buckingham Palace, except for the postmark. The back of the envelope features the Queen's Coat of Arms (seen below on the letter).

The letter arrived yesterday and took a little longer to arrive than normal, partly because I just moved and my mail is getting forwarded. A February reply for a Christmas note is perfectly reasonable. The Queen's staff are obviously very busy before Christmas, then on holiday and then taking a while to catch up on everything. I'm still waiting on a few more Christmas replies, which I hope/would expect by the end of the month.

Inside the envelope is a letter written by Mary Morrison, one of the Queen's Ladies in Waiting. Instead of the usual Buckingham Palace under the Queen's coat of arms, it says Sandringham House.

The letter says:

Dear Miss Daly, 

The Queen wishes me to write and thank you for the letter you have sent to Her Majesty and the Duke of Edinburgh for Christmas and the New Year, and for your kind words in advance of The Queen's ninetieth birthday.  

Although unable to reply to you personally owning to the hundreds of letters she receives each day, Her Majesty much appreciated your thoughtful message at this time.  

I am to thank you, once again, for your continuing support for The Queen and all Members of The Royal Family.  

Yours Sincerely, Mary Morrison

From the reply, it's quite clear that Mary Morrison read my letter. The letter mentions that I had written to both the Queen and Philip. (I have written to both of them before, but this is the 1st reply I have gotten that acknowledges that.) It also mentions my "kind words" in advance of the Queen's 90th this year, as well as me talking about the royal family as a whole, which are not things every letter written to the Queen for Christmas are going to mention.

I know the Queen is given a selection of letters and cards to read over her Christmas break at Sandringham. Who knows if my letter was actually one of those. My letter may have just ended up at Sandringham because the Queen's Ladies-in-waiting wanted letters to reply to when they had a little downtime.

People receive replies, for their Christmas letter, from both Sandringham and Buckingham Palace. In fact last year, there was some mix up in their office and I received two replies from my Christmas letter. One from Sandringham and one from Buckingham.  I do, however, feel like this year's letter is more personal than in the past.

Crown Prince Jacques & Princess Gabriella - Birth Reply (2014)

Yesterday, I get this in the mail, a thank you from Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco for the letter I sent them for the birth of their twins, Crown Prince Jacques & Princess Gabriella! 

They previously sent a Christmas card in response to the same letter. (This arrived 26 days after the Christmas Card and 67 days after the twins birth.)

The envelope is textured and really nice quality. The back features the couple's joint monogram. 

Inside is a note written in both French and English. The paper has the same texture as the envelope.

The message reads: 

Extremely touched by the kindness shown on the occasion of the birth of Their Children

Jacques Honoŕe Rainier and Gabriella Thérèse Marie

The Prince and Princess of Monaco would like to express Their sincerest thanks.

The Cambridges - Christmas Reply (2014)

It finally arrived! I have been waiting for a reply for my Christmas letter to William and Kate for a long time, at least 6 weeks. I usually get a response much sooner, but over the Holiday Season, response time is slower. I actually received a reply for my birthday letter to Kate before I received this. 

The photo on the front of the card was released for Prince George's first birthday in July and was taken by John Stilwell.

The message on the back of the card says:

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince George are so grateful to you for the kind message you sent at Christmas and send you their best wishes for a Happy New Year.

Prince Charles - Birthday Reply (2014)

A reply arrived today from the UK. I had written to Prince Charles for his birthday. The envelope is the typical from the British Royals.

The back of the envelope features the Prince of Wales feathers.

Inside, is a letter from Claudia Spens, the head of Clarence House's Correspondence Section.

Message says:

Dear Miss Daly,  

The Prince of Wales has asked me to thank you for your letter of 13th October, and kind message which you have sent on the occasion of his forthcoming birthday.  

His Royal Highness is most grateful to you for taking the trouble to write as you did; he was particularly touched by your kind words of support for himself, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince George. 

The Prince of Wales has asked me to send you his warmest thanks and very best wishes.

The Cambridges - 2nd pregnancy reply (2014)

A very lovely reply arrived from the UK. I had written to The Cambridges to send them my congratulations on the news that they were expecting their 2nd child.

The card is the Cambridges' typical reply, photo on the front and typed message on the back.  

The photo is the same as Prince George's 1st Birthday reply.  The photo is from Prince George's Plunket Playgroup during the Cambridges' 2014 New Zeland Tour. The photo was taken by Simon Woolf, the New Zealand government's official photographer for the tour.

The message reads:

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were touched by your kind words following the happy news that they are expecting their 2nd child.

It was really most thoughtful of you and Their Royal Highnesses send you their warmest thanks and best wishes.

Prince George of Cambridge - 1st Birthday Reply (2014)

My very first time writing to the Royals was for Prince George's 1st birthday. It was very exciting to write to the Royals for the 1st time. And little did I know that I would continue to do this for years to come.

The envelope is the typical from the British Royals. It features the red EIIR postmark from the Court Post Office at Buckingham Palace.

The back of the envelope features Prince William's red monogram. In 2014, William & Kate used William's monogram on all their joint replies. The British Royals aren't big on joint monograms. They do use them occasionally, but more often they just use the monogram of the more senior royal.

The reply is the typical from Clarence House, a postcard size photo with a typed message on the back. The photo is from Prince George's Plunket Playgroup during the family's 2014 New Zeland Tour.
