King Albert of Belgium - Hospitalization (2023)

This reply arrived this week from Belgium. I had written to King Albert to wish him a speedy recovery after he was hospitalized at Cliniques Universitaires Saint-Luc Hospital in June.

The Belgium Royals have over a dozen different envelopes that they use. While I've been writing to them for years, this is the first time I have received this particular envelope. On our post about their envelopes, we have classified this as envelopes #3d.

It is similar to to #3c, my absolute favorite envelope from Queen Paola, expect this does not have the lovely tissue paper purple liner.

This envelope is blank on the front (except of the stuff added after creation, address, postmark, etc.). The back features Belvédère castle's address in French and Dutch along the edge of the flap. Along with a Crown and the name of their residence Belvédère.

Inside is a flat car from King Albert. The card matches the envelope with same Crown with the name of their residence Belvédère underneath.

The card is in French and says:

"His Majesty King Albert II thanks you with all his heart for the wishes for a speedy recovery that you have sent to him."
