Prince Albert & Princess Charlene of Monaco - Christmas Reply (2024)

I received this reply yesterday from Monaco. I had send a Christmas Card to Prince Albert & Princess Charlene.

The front of the card features a photo of the family. (Seated L-R: Princess Gabriella, Crown Prince Jacques, Princess Charlene. Standing: Prince Albert) The photo was taken by Éric Mathon. He has taken the family's Christmas Card photo a number of times before, including last years.

The decoration of the front of the card is different from recent years. This features red holy leaves decorating each corner of the photo. Every few years the palace changes up the Christmas Card designs. You can find past Christmas Replies [here].

The top of the card features Prince Albert & Princess Charlene's joint monogram.

The inside of the card features a message in French, English and Monoque. The signatures are printed on and the same used in past years.

The card says:
In this festive season, our warmest wishes
for a Merry Christmas and
a Happy New Year 2025.

Albert de Monaco
Charlene de Monaco

The envelope is the usual style from the couple for Christmas. This envelope is made of a shimmering iridescent paper that matched the card. The top left of the envelope says "Service de S.A.S. le Prince de Monaco" (translated: "Service of HRH The Prince of Monaco" ).

Monaco is one of the few monarchies to still use real stamps. This stamp is part of a set commemorating the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Monaco during WII. This stamp features US General Robert Frederick. The stamp was released in October 2024.

The postmark celebrate the 45th anniversary of The Dante Alighieri Comitato di Monaco ortnization, which Italian language and culture in Monaco.

The back of the card features the couple's joint monogram like usual.

The Cambridges - Christmas Reply (2020)

I received this reply back in 2021 from The Cambridges (who are now known as The Wales.) I had written to the family at the end of 2020 to wish them a Merry Christmas.

The envelope is the usual, that Prince William & Princess Kate still use today. The only difference is the postmark is still the one from Queen Elizabeth II's reign.

The card is the usual flat card we see from them. The photo on the front was taken by Matt Porteous at the family's home Anmer Hall in Norfolk. This photo was also used on the couple's official christmas card that they send out to their person christmas card list. (It is not uncommon for Royals to have multiple versions of Christmas cards that get sent out to different groups of people.) This was the first time (at least in recent years) that the Wales had used the same photo for both their person Christmas card and their card to well-wishers.

The back of the card is the usual. It features the coronet of a child of the heir apparent above the name of their office, Kensington Palace. The message is similar to past years, although they change it up slightly each year.

The card says:

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis thank you for your very kind message at Christmas.

This was most thoughtful of you and greatly appreciated by Their Royal Highnesses who send you their best wishes for a Happy New Year.

Prince Charles & Duchess Camilla - Christmas Reply (2017)

A reply arrived today from the UK for the Christmas Letter I send Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla. The reply is same as their previous Christmas replies: a postcard-sized photo with typed message on the back.

The photo is from the couple's Tour of Europe in March/April. The photo was taken on March 31st in Italy by Alessandra Benedetti. Benedetti is an Italian-Hungarian photographer based in Italy. The Royals always love to use a photo from one of their tours for their replies. But it is especially lovely that they chose to feature a local photographer.

The photo is from the couple's first Day in Italy. They are posing on the historic Ponte Santa Trìnita (Holy Trinity Bridge), in Florence.

The message on the back has slightly different wording from previous years.

The card reads:
The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall would like to thank you so much for the kind Christmas message which was greatly appreciated by them.
Their Royal Highnesses send you their warmest best wishes for a very Happy New Year.
